The exploration of colour combinations
Colour Combo has been an exciting and evolving challenge for artists since its inception in October 2022. Initially, participants were tasked with creating artworks using just two colors, alongside the optional use of black, white, and a metallic. This format encouraged artists to think creatively within a limited palette, pushing them to explore new combinations and techniques.
As the community grew and participants expressed interest in expanding the challenge, changes were made to keep things fresh and engaging. In 2024, an extra colour was added to the mix, allowing for more complex and varied compositions. This change was in response to subscriber requests, reflecting the community-driven nature of the challenge.
In 2025, Ceri introduced an additional twist to the challenge by incorporating a mark-making element. This new aspect required participants to include a specific shape or pattern in their artwork, adding another layer of creativity and complexity to the task. This evolution of the Colour Combo challenge not only kept participants engaged but also encouraged them to experiment with different techniques and styles.
Currently, each month features a new set of three colours chosen by subscribers, along with a designated mark-making shape or pattern. Artists still have the option to use black, white, and a metallic, allowing for a wide range of creative possibilities. Ceri continues to launch a video on the first of each month, demonstrating his use of the colours and sharing valuable tips and tricks for colour mixing and creative expression. This ongoing series has become a beloved part of his artistic community, inspiring artists to step outside their comfort zones and explore new artistic horizons.
