Artist
Ceri Griffiths (aka Ceri the Crafter) has always been creative, winning art prizes during his early school years, even winning a Blue Peter badge for his art work at an early age. Ceri admits that his imagination can sometimes be a curse as his mind never turns off but that he would never change it as its a gift that has opened many doors. Be it paint, clay, paper, or cake Ceri sees design everywhere, one of his passions being photography enables him to capture inspiration wherever he sees it.
In 2010 Ceri started working in television demonstrating cake products and skills for shopping channels and over time the scope of topics he demonstrates has expanded to craft and art, he can now be seen regularly on TV demonstrating and selling many inspirations products delighting many with his easy going nature and his hints and tips.
Ceri has a very popular Youtube channel where he shares his journey within the creative community, sharing skills and promoting many other artists along the way.
Cake Decorator and Designer
Ceri Griffiths graduated bakery and confectionery college in 1980 with distinctions. Starting work immediately as a confectionery and cake decorator he soon started his own cake decorating business in his home city of Cardiff, S. Wales.
Unfortunately Ceri suffered from lung issues caused by flour dust which prevented him from following his dream within the bakery industry.
In true Ceri style he dusted himself off and started over again in a career as a professional dancer at the age of twenty five. He enjoyed a sixteen year career working on both stage, small screen and large eventually working on cruise ships and fulfilling another dream of his to see the world. At age forty four Ceri hung up his dancing shoes and returned home to Wales.
Upon returning home he discovered that the bakery industry had evolved and cake decoration and design could be a stand alone job with no exposure to flour dust so Ceri returned to his first love of cake decoration.
Ceri is now an internationally recognised expert in his field of cake decoration, an international judge, and award winning author and product designer.
Award Winner
Throughout his various careers Ceri has won many accolades starting during his bakery days winning awards for his collage then onto his show business days with many a standing ovation.
The crafting world has seen Ceri win product design awards and a literary award in New York for his publication Border Inspirations 1&2 a book written, photographed and at first self-published from his home in Cardiff. He is the recipient of the Oklahoma State Sugar Art Show Medal of Honour, and in 2021 was inducted into the ICES Hall of Fame in America for his contributions and support of the cake decorating community.
The Future
Ceri has a passion for sharing knowledge and skills with others and takes great pride in the successes of his students and subscribers. Ceri can regularly be found around the world at cake and craft shows demonstrating on the main stage, teaching, judging or helping to promote products on a traders stands. Due to the 2020 pandemic Ceri has focused a lot of attention on his Youtube channel offering free tutorials and videos for his subscribers to enjoy, the channel focuses on many aspects of his life from cake to craft, from face to face chats to cake show diaries, with much more content planned for the future.
